Newish member Yellow 71 240z ACT...
« on: May 13, 2012, 12:46:03 PM »
Hi, Ive been a member of this website for about 6 months now and have sourced some parts from a few of you. Im Michael from the ACT. I have a yellow 7/71 240z which ive owned for almost ten years now.  Zs have always been a favourite of mine, and id own 1+ even if i won lotto the other night.

Anyway last July I started to get into the z after the common l28 swap lasted for 6 or so years going well, but i wanted something faster, newer and safer so decide to buy a stack of parts from the states while the strong dollar was favourable.  i sourced parts from McKinnet Motorsports for the RB25DET swap incl cooler, mounts, cables, 4 core radiator, driveshaft, fan/shroud and used Arizona ZCar for the coilover kit and willwood 4 pot all round on 12.2" incl discs.  Have got everything in after a bit of work, done the R200 rear, 3" exhaust, surge/fuel sys, painted engine bay, rust protected/painted undercar.

The cars totally different obviously from before but its so much fun, and feels solid now.  New bushes allround makes it super tight and with about 250rwhp (stock) in a now 1120kg car it rips along with a stack of untapped potential

Ill post some pics of interior, bay, under etc in an appropriate thread... This is a really cool community and im stoked to join..

Cheers
Michael

Hey mate.  Welcome and why did you have to do an RB25 swap!!??  lol jokes, the more the merrier.  There is another member from the area doing a 26 conversion too.  We could be the RB Zed capital with Michael Fawkes RB20 240 too!

Haha, yeah it seems to be a common trend. RB Z ACT. I was going to go the 1JZ route, but decided to keep everything in the family.

And beside, so much potention with the rb25det anyway. I struggle for traction now and its stock basically...

I always reckon power to weight is so much more important than outright power....
