Opinions on fender mirrors?..
« on: November 10, 2011, 06:18:52 AM »
Hey guys,
Just ordered some nice gunmetal rota rbx wheel and carbon fiber flares.
I'm looking to also replace my currently useless side mirrors but I can't seem to decide between normal position mirrors or the jdm style fender mirrors.
What do you guys reckon?  :D

Oh and does anybody know if bre style carbon rear spoilers are available?

You can get bre style carbon wings from MSA in the states.

As for fender mirrors you complain that your current door mirrors are useless just wait until you use fender mirrors!

I like the fender mirrors, but as Agno said if you think the side mirrors are useless, you should prob try to sit in someone's car who has fender mirrors to see what you think.

they are good for quickly seeing if there is something next to you or in you're blind spot, as there effectively isn't one, but they are useless for looking back in

From what I hear, fender mirrors are pretty useless so the only thing going for them is aesthetics. Personally I like the look, but the Z has to be clean and aggressive stanced for them to look good.

JDM or not, I think they look stupid and are virtually useless for their intended purpose. There :)

I don't like them, but they do look O.K.

You could probably see more if you use a periscope.

Just don't fit a stock door mirror, you know those hideous square looking ones.

With fender mirrors  once you get used to judging the distance they are fine. I find them excellent on track when passing, as head checks with a helmet aren't practical.

I've run both and the door mirrors are just as bad only uglier   ;)

Stainless ray dot door mirrors are very cool also.

From the guy about to sell a spare pair of fender mirrors. Lol

Oh man I can't even find a set of those. I actually think they look good and like them. If anyone has a stock 240z driver side (RHD) mirror I'll take it. :) - Gotta be better than the plastic 200B mirrors the PO fitted to my Z :(

I like Fender Mirrors myself I think they look cool and are a very period looking item.

A lot of old sports cars place the mirrors on the fender - although not as far forward as the Z has them.

Hi Daryl,

one thing you have to consider is whether or not you are getting your doors repainted, as you'll have the holes from the existing mirrors if you decide to go for the fender mirrors.

I like the fender mirrors. Even though they supposedly eliminate blindspots, you need to get used to judging distance,  just remember what your driving instructor taught you, shoulder check for blindspots!

I'd like to recommend you do some online shopping with my Truck Yaro friends at 'Tokyo Mach 7'. I think they've got just the thing for you: http://www.mach7.jp/shopbrand/005/X/

I can see down both sides of my car with them so how are they virtually useless? You get used to using them after a while.

Looks less stupid than a whale tail spoiler...

Thanks for the feedback guys.  :D
I think I'll avoid going down the fender mirror route after all..
I stupidly overlooked the fact that by usin fender mirrors would leave me with holes to fill from the old mirrors.
I'll just keep my eyes out for some nice standard mirrors  :)
