To keep the Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc.. thread separate to the global market I've created this new thread.

Chasing Parts For Hs30-00127

Classifieds - Thu, 07/06/2018 - 22:01

So I managed to score a fair few parts for my Z shell over the weekend but thought I'd put up a list of what I'm still chasing.

First off is a steering column or parts of, to finish off what I've got. I was having a play around with a 510 column shaft which fits but has a splined uni-joint rather than a two bolt flange.

So here's what I have:

34529051_10157486862583146_7313221066086678528_n.jpg 34559219_10157486864023146_8184945976583127040_n.jpg 34480158_10157486863823146_2650959797704196096_n.jpg

With the 510 column and shaft:

...and then the rest.....

Bonnet latch (got the base plate and catch)

Bonnet badge

Quarter badges

Doors, door glass and regulators (got frames, cards, handles, locks etc)

Lower door hinges (got good uppers)

Gutter mouldings

Hatch and glass (got mounting hardware and rubbers)

Complete pedal box

Heater box

Centre console

Passenger seat

Drivers seat adjuster handle

Rear sway bar brackets

Horn pad

Any leads or advice on what others have used would be much appreciated e.g. anyone using Alpha doors or hatch?

Cheers!

Does anyone have any info on these regarding their status as NLA?

My local supplier believes he has found some (though at an alarming price) and am not sure whether to believe it or not.

Has anyone had any luck sourcing them recently?

Cheers,

James

Best Fitting Brake Hoses?

Latest Posts - Wed, 06/06/2018 - 16:53

The original Nissan rubber brakes hoses have 19mm end fittings, that's measured flat-to-flat, which seat neatly into the hose brackets.

Does anybody know a brand - either rubber or braided (if the latter must be ADR-compliant, there are about 7 approved brands) - which matches the Nissan hoses correctly?

Aftermarket hoses I've looked at thus far are 17mm which is undersized, and while they can be used and will work I'm not happy with that.

(No I haven't tried Nissan).

Ab's Uncut Emerald - '74 260Z

Latest Posts - Wed, 06/06/2018 - 16:24

Well I have now purchased RS30-000467, a 1974 260z 2 seater.

It was my brother in law's car which he owned since new (still has the original owner's manual, warranty/service booklet and full 260z service manual) and only stopped driving it about 18 months ago. He indicated it is accident free (other than some right front fender damage from a kangaroo) however he replaced the original engine in 1992 with one from a 280z after removal of all the fuel injection system). Also, he did mention that years ago the front passenger floor pan was pushed up when the car slipped of a hoist support when being serviced in the 1990's.

It has the original paintwork and, other than a small patch of "deep" rust in the lower front door (about the size of a 20c coin), only appears to have some surface rust on the roof and some other panels. Yes, I know there will be some rust surprises in store for me!

Currently the car is quite a way from where I live and the first step is to look to prevent further rust damage both that that is visible and maybe attempt to get to areas that are hidden. I will get it garaged and go from there.

The plan is to get it restored (rust free) and painted in its original colour #303 Emerald Green (?Metallic?) and do some upgrades to the engine (mild ones!). I have chased up where the original engine was exchanged and it was a dead end - as you would expect after 24 years so no chance of getting matching numbers.

Safari Brown... I mean Gold - The NSW Project

Latest Posts - Wed, 06/06/2018 - 13:35
So as some of you may have noticed in the eBay thread.
http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2630.msg143013.html#msg143013
I bought Lurch's sister car #150 on eBay.

First plan is to transport her from S.A to NSW. So my question to the group is does anyone know a good freight company and approx what it should cost?

The next plan will be to find out why she's not running, I suspect the old L28 will still have good compression and probably just needs a tune, new plugs, new fuel and fluid changes etc.. I am anxious to see how rusty she is also. It's going to be a good chance to learn how to weld and repair rust. I'll start with more conspicuous places first if possible and work my way up to the harder stuff. I've been inspired watching other members here build their cars over the years and I'll definitely need some advice, guidance and probably a good shot of motivation to dig in.

I don't care about the paint at this stage, in fact I'm thinking it might work to my advantage. I might try and go for that rat rod / old race car look. Throw some racing numbers on it and maybe a few other quirky bits and pieces to make it look like it's had a hard life at the track in other words being properly used and abused.

The other reason I bought it is that I wanted to get more involved with the Sydney / NSW Z fraternity. So I am hoping to get her on the road at some point in the not too distant future. I was always a bit nervous about letting my partner drive the current 240z I have, so now that I've got another hopefully I can relax and let her drive 1 of them. She still needs to learn manual though.

A few months ago I saw this 240z for sale in NZ.
http://www.moorhousemusclecars.co.nz/vehicle.aspx?stockno=2098

You'll note it went to Malaysia probably a collector. I can't recall what it was exactly listed for, but I think 27,000 NZD?

I've always wanted an early build 240z with the vents in the rear hatch, the 240z C pillar emblems the hand throttle and all those other quirky bits that make the early cars just a bit more special.

Eventually I'd love to build a proper looking Safari Gold 240z.

It's not a #'s matching car - any ideas on how to track down where the L24 might have went? I guess probably next to impossible to find now, but who knows it could be running around in a 240c or something?

I am thinking of building a replica of a 432 - but without the S20 of course (don't think I'll be able to ever get 1 of those I'm afraid). So yes the plan is to stay Safari Gold (aka Baby Sh%& Yellow as my friends mum used to call it). They had a Toyota Crown in a similar hue.

It just oozes 70s cool in this shade. I think a pair of U0175 Datsun bucket race seats in it would top it off too!

I took a bit of a punt on this car, I didn't see it in person, but from the photos it looks remarkably complete. In my opinion a complete car is the best to start any form of restoration work from. Will keep you guys updated when it arrives in NSW.

In the interim if anyone can lend a hand, recommend a company or has ideas on the best way to get it freighted over to my place in NSW let me know? The current seller is willing to drop it at a freight company free of charge, which is super nice of him/her.

Clock Repairs.

Latest Posts - Tue, 05/06/2018 - 23:28
Hi guys, recently i gave my dad a couple of clocks to see if he could fix them. He went right over them and did fix them. So i gave him another members clock to fix and he repaired this one too! So i have asked him if he would like me to post an ad on here to generate some business for him, which he obviously accepted.
My dads retired these days but still has some light work coming in from wesfarmers as he repairs electric fences for them.
Im just trying to keep dad active and help you guys out too with this offer as i know theres not too many working clocks in the zeds out there.Im sure he'd be able to takle the rally clocks also.
Because of the time involved in this repair hes asking only $50 per clock plus postage. He will only fix the clock, not refurbishing the entire housing and making it look pretty.
As it takes about 2 hrs to fault find, replace dead component's and then get the time calibrated over a couple of days.
If your interested PM me and ill forward on my dads details to you.

Thanks,Simon.
